Dems opening their wallets for Gov. Cuomo and Tom DiNapoli tonight at separate Long Island events

Brad Gerstman, power lawyer, is hosting a Tom DiNapoli fundraiser.

Follow the money – and tonight it will lead you to Long Island.

Deep-pocketed Democratic donors will be opening their wallets at two separate fundraisers in tony parts of Long Island.

Gov. Cuomo will be feted in the colossal home of labor mediator Martin Scheinman in Sands Point, a ritzy North Shore enclave. Scheinman most recently brokered the deal between the city and the United Federation of Teachers.

That fundraiser was first reported on Newsday.

And over in Roslyn, power lawyers Brad Gerstman and David Schwartz are hosting a fundraiser for State Controller Tom DiNapoli’s reelection campaign.

The Democrat DiNapoli is battling Onondaga County Controller Robert Antonacci, a Republican, for the office. Cuomo is running against Rob Astorino, the Republican Westchester County executive, for a second term.

Gerstman and Schwartz, whose wives Cheryl and Heather are co-hosts, have billed their DiNapoli fundraiser as a kickoff to the Democratic convention, which starts tomorrow at the Hilton Hotel in Melville.

It will be held at Gerstman’s sprawling home, the power broker’s preferred spot for his exuberant fundraisers.

But it likely won’t rival his partner’s most recent bash. Schwartz threw a lavish, black tie Bat Mitzvah for his teen daughter last month.
