Anti-Semitic Vandalism in Cedarhurst: Long Island Lawyer Offers Reward

Brad Gerstman, founder of the Anti-Semitism Action Fund, has offered $1,000 to Crimestoppers for anyone who helps catch the Anti-Semitic vandals who defaced the Cedarhurst train station with swastikas. Mr. Gerstman is a leading New York State attorney, lobbyist and communications specialist. He has a diverse background and extensive experience in law, business, government, education, and has become a leading fighter against hate crimes on Long Island.

A swastika was found etched into glass at the Long Island Rail Road station in Cedarhurst on Monday. The defacement came only days after the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) replaced the same glass panel for the exact same reason. Brad Gerstman is calling on local authorities to take immediate action to address this ominous growing trend. “Swastikas represent one of the greatest evils perpetrated in all of world history, and we need to come together as a community to identify the culprits and stop this heinous behavior before it continues to grow. This is not something that can or should be taken lightly,” says Gerstman.

What is of particular concern to Gerstman and other community leaders, is that Cedarhurst is home to a growing number of Orthodox Jews, and many are either direct survivors of the Holocaust, or have family members who were exterminated by the Nazis. As Gerstman points out;

“It is an absolute disgrace that some ignorant individual would use a swastika to traumatize the vulnerable in the Jewish population of Cedarhurst. He should be identified and punished so that others will understand that the community takes these vile acts seriously.”

Gerstman, working with officials in Nassau County, has previously established a reward fund that provided reward money for information that would help lead to the capture and conviction of the perpetrators of these anti-Semitic acts.
